A 37 kilometre drive past Sooke and a 15 minute walk ends at China Beach, a long expanse of sand with pounding surf, mostly empty. Bonus: walk past the tall mossy rock at the western end of the beach, keep on for a bit and turn right to a magnificent waterfall.
